ALUMNI 5 QUESTIONS - SILVIA VILLEGAS

Silvia Villegasattended Ramona High School

1) What is your favorite meal (main course and dessert!)?

My favorite would probably be an Italian dinner.  To go with that I prefer any type of dessert that has chocolate.

2) What is your favorite moment of your college season so far?

My favorite part of my college soccer season would probably be the traveling. It's an awesome experience not only to be part of a college team, but being able to travel and see new places that you've never seen before is so incredibly amazing to me. Specially since you are traveling with your teammates. It's an awesome way to bond as well.

3) How are you doing in you college classes?

At first it was pretty hard to balance soccer and school at the same time. I was actually pretty worried because school comes first and being part of the soccer team was a bonus for me. But, it can be done if you believe in yourself that you can finish everything before going to away games or just bringing your homework on the bus. Having stressful moments happen (as an electrical engineer I have those all the time) but my advice to future athletes is to just relax and know you can do pretty much anything if you set your mind to it. You're a college athlete! If anything, people look up to you because they know it's hard to do both school and sports. So be proud :)

4) What is the biggest game on your schedule?

Our biggest game this season would probably be against William Jessup University. Last year we went to the cal PAC championship and we beat then in PK's. So when we play against them, as a team we make sure we are mentally focused and ready to play our A game because we know they remember that game when we beat them.

5) Do you have any suggestions for the current San Diego United players?

My suggestion to current San Diego United players is: don't let anyone change the way you play. Some people might look down upon you just because you play different but never let that get to you because no matter what, there's one thing you're there for, and that's to play soccer and make an impact on the game because you know you deserve to be there and you know you can. Always play hard in every game and enjoy the journey to college soccer. It seriously is the best experience in one's soccer career.
